    Rosi,

The talent pool at your weight division is shallow – no depth. Try fighting at 135-140 pounds, the talent is greater – overall the girls are better and stronger fighters.

I agree that the 135 lbs division is stacked at the moment and I would love to fight some of the girls at that weight. :)

Unfortunately my build is simply too small to be truly competitive at that division though – I’m small for a 125 fighter, in that I walk around naturally at that weight when I’m in shape. I feel much faster and more athletic when I’m lighter, and I’d rather concentrate on fighting in a division that allows me to perform at my best and show what I’m capable of. If I was to look at crossing to another weight class, it would be down to 115 rather than up to 135.

The 125 lbs division is developing though, and with some of the smaller 135 fighters starting to look at fighting at 125, I think there are some interesting match ups that could be made. I think a fight between myself and Tara LaRosa at that weight would be great, for example. There are also several Japanese fighters at 125 who I think I’d match up well against – there’s Takayo Hashii, Rin Nakai and perhaps even Hitomi Akano. I’d love to convince Roxanne Modafferi to fight at 125 too :)

115 also has potential – there’s Megumi Fujii, Yuka Tsujii, Michelli Tavares, Miku Matsumoto, Lisa Ward and Jessica Pene who have all fought at that weight, any of whom I would love to fight.

So there you go – some of the most highly ranked pound for pound female fighters right there, without needing to move up in weight!

The match ups are out there, its a question of getting promoters to get the top fighters together and put the fights on. I think some of the problem is that the higher weights are the ones that have had more publicity, so the fighters are better known. Bellator have dropped some hints about perhaps doing a women’s tournament to showcase the talent in one of the lighter weight classes – so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
